Delaware River Towns
The Delaware River is a major river in the eastern United States and forms the entire boundary between Pennsylvania and New Jersey. The banks of the river were home to early settlements of the Lenape Native American tribe, and also some of earliest European settlements on the North American continent. Throughout history, it provided food, transportation, power and recreation for generations of people who lived in its watershed. Viewers are invited to imagine life in these towns in the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries and consider efforts to further preserve the remaining structures before they too are lost to “progress.”
